Splish Splash

With my belly button healing, I had my first bathtime tonight. It was a most horrid event because Mommie insisted on scrubbing all my soft wrinkles and folds and I screamed like I have never done before. My doggie even ran from the room in retreat. The best part came when Daddy wrapped me up all cozy warm in […]

Thunderpants – The Revenge

“Isn’t this nice.  A quiet sit down dinner, our first since she was born, where we can eat off the table and relax.  It’s really nice to be able to chill out in front of the telly.  She’s sound asleep, look at her.”  I agreed wholeheartedly, how lovely and tranquil it felt.  A little adult time in

Day Eight: Citizen Marcail

In a small, and intimate ceremony, attended by only a few of her closest friends and relatives, Marcail Erin Begbie was today entered on the register of births, deaths and marriages in the town of South Queensferry.  Details from this intimate event have not been widely publicised, but one excited onlooker was apparently heard to

Day Seven: Marcail Thunderpants

It seems that it’s not easy being wee and having to get yourself going in the morning all the time, especially if you’ve spent the preceding 24 hours seeing how little sleep you can give your mummy and daddy; and poor Doglet too, who is the only one of us who never actually signed up

Day Six: Long day, short post

It’s all starting to mount up!  The incremental sleep deprivation is doing its thing its thing [I did notice this, but after publishing.  I rest my case – ed.] with the two of us, well three of us really; even Doglet has been dog tired!

Day five: Milky La-La Land

We got off to a good start today.  I was raking through the washing basket to get out light colours for a full load along with Marcail’s stuff, when I found them.

Day four: Starting to gurgle

Last night, well the small hours of this morning really, Marcail made her first noise that wasn’t simply a cry. She was in her bed and made a little gurgly baby type noise.  It’s a tiny thing, I know, but it’s another little step forward.  She is getting the hang of feeding, and of demanding

Day two at home

We’re starting to get the hang of this job a little bit and it seems a little less daunting than it did yesterday.  The midwife came to see us this morning, and we’re not in jail and Marcail isn’t in care so we can’t be doing everything wrong.  Although, it turns out we did try

Going Home

Debs was pretty tired by this morning.  I’d been able to get a good 8 hours solid sleep at home; once I was done with all the blog updates, emails, phone calls and Skype…  Debs was pretty wiped out though having been able to get very little sleep on the ward, which was actually quite
